Notre Dame rout exposes Stanford's protection and competitiveness crisis

Stanford lost 58-7 to No. 3 Notre Dame on Oct. 10, producing only 202 total yards while surrendering five touchdowns of at least 30 yards. Jonaz Walton rushed for 181 yards, including a 97-yard touchdown, and the 37-0 halftime deficit, strip-sack, interception and repeated protection and coverage breakdowns reinforced the severity of the crisis.
