Unusually active tornado, flood, and heat season

An EF1 tornado crossed Piatt and Champaign counties with a 24-mile path and 100-mph winds, while flooding, outages, road closures, and a White Heath water rescue affected the area. A late-August heat wave continues with mid-to-upper 90s, heat indexes near 100–105, warm nights, and limited rain; Monticello’s forecast reached about 94°F for Monday, August 31.
