UIUC Research, AI Standards and Academic Achievement

An Illinois researcher, Guan, was named a 2026 MacArthur Fellow for work linking campus research with agriculture, conservation, risk management, and AI-enabled impact. Illinois researchers are also advancing the NLIP AI-agent interoperability standard and participating in a $14.2 million DOE Genesis Mission effort applying AI to as many as one billion electric-grid scenarios, alongside continuing biomedical, energy, agricultural, and faculty-award achievements.
