Open research is testing new routes to reliable, efficient agents

Recent work spans recursive improvement, autonomous discovery, diffusion-based GUI agents, audio grounding, synthetic enterprise data, open-weight models and photonic or memory-aware acceleration. These efforts strengthen reproducibility and evidence-grounded systems, but narrow benchmarks, author-reported results and unclear deployment economics limit immediate business impact.
