Memphis expands arts, music heritage, and cultural infrastructure

Memphis's cultural landscape is in transition: the Brooks Museum is scheduled to close its Overton Park location on September 27, with the historic building's future unresolved, while the new Memphis Art Museum prepares for its December 6 opening with free Shelby County admission, commissioned works, expanded galleries, and rooftop sculpture. The National Civil Rights Museum, Memphis Public Libraries' Tay Keith Music Lab and Cloud901, 901Voices, Indie Memphis, and other local arts initiatives continue connecting heritage, youth opportunity, and current civic issues.
