Shreveport water crisis, sanitation reliability, housing needs, and policing concerns

Shreveport's third failing water-system grade, fluoride shortage, delayed garbage collection, driver shortages, and potholes continue to expose service-capacity problems. Proposed sanitation wages of $21.78 to $25 and police/fire raises of up to 8% raise funding questions; Mayor Tom Arceneaux says $20-$30 million is committed to water improvements. Airport officials say United's planned cuts are not currently expected to affect Shreveport, while Allegiant's Orlando service returns and United's Chicago route begins Oct. 25.
