Questions over reliability of AI image and video detectors

OpenAI and Meta reportedly told a federal evidence panel that AI-generated image and video detectors may never be reliable enough to stand alone as evidence, reinforcing the need for corroboration. Zoom has announced a video-call feature that checks for possible externally altered audio or video, but independent validation, error rates, and evidentiary value remain unknown.
