Bundibugyo Ebola outbreak spreads across DRC–Kenya border

ECDC reports nine linked Kenyan cases and a case in Nigeria, with extensive transmission in the DRC; EU/EEA risk is very low. A DRC trial is testing whether Ervebo, approved for Zaire Ebola, protects against Bundibugyo, with strain-specific candidates expected to join; efficacy is unknown. Genome-based estimates suggest transmission may have slowed, but do not firmly establish R below 1, and an Oxford-coordinated treatment trial reportedly enrolled its first participant in July without outcomes.
