Perez Future Raises Catching Succession Questions

Carter Jensen’s rookie power and plate discipline strengthen his case as Salvador Perez’s eventual successor, though breaking pitches, edge pitches, strikeouts, and contact remain concerns. Perez’s workload and the 2027 catching alignment remain unresolved, while Caglianone’s defensive home is unsettled after a -9 OAA in right field; releasing Jorge Alfaro does not materially change that picture.
