Implantable BCIs advance toward natural multimodal communication

Neuralink reporting describes wireless, fully implanted imagined-speech communication, while separate research has demonstrated simultaneous decoding of speech and gestures into text and personalized avatars. CorTec has also received FDA Breakthrough Device designation for a bidirectional platform targeting communication and stroke rehabilitation, but human evidence remains early and limited on accuracy, safety, durability, scalability, and patient-to-patient generalization.
