Major Viking-Age Silver Hoards in Norway and Finland

Norway's nearly 5,000-coin hoard has yielded its first 100 published coins, including rare Harald Hardrada and Sigtrygg Silkbeard issues and possible Scandinavian-linked moneyers. A separate Finnish hoard, weighing about 4.5 kilograms and found in birch-bark or straw containers, is described as the country's largest Viking-Age silver hoard; scale, composition, dating, and Baltic connections remain under study.
