Orion Township Public Safety Funding Crisis

Orion Township voters rejected both police and fire millages on Aug. 4, leaving zero funding by Jan. 1. Fire failed by 1%, police by larger margin. Similar failures in Independence, Brandon, Highland townships. Supervisor calls it critical; sheriff warns of slower response. Possible re-vote in November.
