Retinal gene therapies approach pivotal commercialization tests

Three gene-therapy programs for neovascular AMD are approaching Phase 3 readouts over the next 12–18 months, with the potential to reduce recurring anti-VEGF injections. Upcoming data will determine durability, retreatment needs, delivery safety, and regulatory viability; encouraging dog data on adult retinal repair remains preclinical and should not be treated as clinical validation.
