Durant trade and Houston future remain uncertain
Houston remains more likely to retain Durant, whose halfcourt creation is viewed as essential, particularly if Fred VanVleet returns healthy. Durant has made no confirmed trade request or commitment beyond 2026–27; Detroit’s prior interest and speculative Knicks, Warriors, and Kyrie Irving concepts remain unconfirmed. Rafael Stone says Durant is happy in Houston and wants to stay; teammate-friction allegations remain unsubstantiated.
