Aztecs survive Texas State 31-29 in historic Pac-12 opener

San Diego State opened Pac-12 play 1-0 and improved to 2-3 overall by beating Texas State 31-29 on October 3 despite 13 unavailable players and both leading rushers sidelined. Lucas’ 111-yard, two-touchdown performance, Hawkins’ 96-yard kickoff return, Cooper’s pick-six and a late defensive stand delivered the win, but quarterback and depth concerns remain heading into Oregon State.
