Heavy-duty electric trucking moves toward higher payloads and megawatt charging
Volvo Trucks has presented an 80-tonne FH Electric configuration claiming up to 450 km range, 640 kWh usable capacity, and 680 kW MCS charging, with hub-reduction axles and cold-weather battery improvements. The specifications indicate expanding ambition for demanding freight, but payload-adjusted range, real-world operating costs, charging deployment, and durability remain unproven.
