Lupoi changes Cal play-caller after UNLV loss

Tosh Lupoi removed offensive coordinator Jordan Somerville as play-caller at halftime of the October 3 loss at UNLV and handed duties to Pat McCann, who is expected to continue in the role. The switch is a significant offensive-direction development before Virginia Tech, though Cal's second-half improvement does not yet prove that it resolves the team's scoring, rushing, protection or quarterback-processing issues.
