Extreme Southwest heat combines with monsoon flooding

Phoenix and parts of Arizona may exceed 110°F while monsoonal storms threaten flash flooding, lightning, gusty winds, blowing dust, and poor air quality, especially in Maricopa and Pinal counties. Burn scars and recent Grand Canyon-area flooding continue to make desert travel and outdoor recreation hazardous.
